CNN: US Military Received Instructions to Lift Blockade in Strait of Hormuz on Friday

The US military has received instructions to lift the naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz on Friday, pending the formal signing of an agreement with Iran, a US official told CNN.

The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said this was the current directive but cautioned that the situation could still change by Friday.

President Donald Trump initially announced on Sunday that, following an agreement with Tehran, he would authorize the “immediate lifting of the US naval blockade” on Iranian ports. He later added on Sunday: “With the Strait opened after the agreement is signed on Friday, for mine clearance purposes, oil will once again flow from both sides to the region and the world!”

Early Monday morning, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council officially announced that a peace agreement had been reached with the United States, stating that the memorandum of understanding (MoU) would be formally signed on Friday, June 19. Tehran said the deal ends military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon, and terminates the naval blockade.

The reported US military instructions align with that timeline, though the US official emphasized that nothing is final until the signing actually takes place.
