A senior Iranian commander has reaffirmed the complete readiness of the country’s armed forces, warning that any threat will be met with a “painful and regret-inducing” response.
“The Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, with full readiness, vigilance, and intelligence dominance, will decisively respond to any threat against the security, independence, and territorial integrity of the country with effects-based, painful, and regret-inducing operations,” said Major General Ali Abdollahi, Commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, in a statement on Thursday.
The remarks came on the first anniversary of what Iran describes as US-Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic, as the commander also commemorated the country’s war martyrs.
General Abdollahi noted that past confrontations—including the 12-day battle against the United States and the Israeli regime last June—demonstrated that the Iranian nation, through unity, steadfastness, and adherence to the guidelines of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution and Commander-in-Chief, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, remains fully prepared to defend the country’s sovereignty, independence, security, and national interests by relying on the capabilities of its armed forces.
“The enemies, with their miscalculations and delusional assumptions, have failed to achieve their sinister and evil goals, and faced a strategic and humiliating defeat,” the top commander emphasized.
He hailed Iran’s “sacred and historic defense” and pointed to the ongoing, widespread presence of the people in support of the ideals of the Islamic Revolution and the armed forces. He described their pledge of allegiance to the Leader and their call to avenge the blood of martyrs as a “lasting manifestation of national unity and cohesion and support for the path of resistance.”
General Abdollahi further stressed that more than 100 nights of popular presence in the streets has demonstrated the people’s vital role in strengthening the country’s deterrent power.
The commander expressed confidence that the path of the martyrs of Iran’s dignity and strength will continue, adding, “The flag of independence, resistance, and pride of this land will remain high.”
