Iranian Foreign Ministry denounced US’ latest act of aggression against the Islamic Republic, warning that Washington would be to blame for the grave consequences of its warmongering.

In a statement released on Thursday, the ministry said the recent US’ illegal and criminal attacks have rendered the ceasefire effectively meaningless.

Iran also accused the United States of using regional facilities and territory to stage operations, warning that countries facilitating such activity would be seen as complicit in aggression. It said Iran reserves the right to respond under what it described as its “inherent right of self-defense.”

“The continued use of the territory and facilities of some countries in the region by the terrorist army of the United States to prepare and carry out aggressive operations against Iran has placed those countries on the side of the aggressors,” the statement said, adding that Iran is “determined to neutralize the origin and source of aggressive attacks.”

The ministry also called on United Nations member states to oppose violations committed by the United States and ‘Israel’, warning that silence would “drive the world further towards chaos and insecurity.”

“The Islamic Republic of Iran notes the joint responsibility of all member states of the United Nations to explicitly oppose the gross violation of the fundamental principles and purposes of the UN Charter by the US and the Zionist regime. Without a doubt, silence and inaction in the face of the lawlessness and bullying of the US and the Zionist regime will drive the world further towards chaos and insecurity.”

It further urged the UN Security Council and the UN Secretary-General to take a clear position, arguing that “issuing general and vague statements” in the face of a clear aggression would amount to enabling further violations of international law.
