Remarkable, yet expected, were the remarks of the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday. The focus on the Zionist threats to Turkey and the entire region characterized his speech.
“Türkiye’s security begins not in Hatay, but in Aleppo, Damascus and Beirut. Neither will we tolerate any faits accompli in our brothers’ countries, nor will we turn a blind eye to aggression,” Erdogan said, stressing that the country’s security extends beyond its borders.

In few lines, Erdogan sketched the main features of the Turkish national security policy in light of the Zionist expansionist, barbaric and genocidal approach admitted since October 7, 2023. Anticipating the threats, taking the adequate attitudes towards them, and redirecting all the national policies to address them comprise this novel strategy.
Observing the Israeli genocide in Gaza, deadly war on Lebanon and unjustifiable attacks on Syria, Erdogan, as all the regional leaders, realized an imminent Zionist threat to Turkey itself in case Netanyahu’s barbarism throughout the whole region remains unchecked.
Thus, Erdogan raised the issue of the national security which goes beyond borders, affirming that Turkey’s security starts in Beirut, Damascus and Aleppo.
Since October 7, 2023, the Resistance in Lebanon has been following the same national security approach based on estimating threats and anticipating the enemy’s plans of aggression. This was the main motif behind the battle of supporting Gaza.
The Zionist enemy, however, unveiled its schemes and decided to launch an unstoppable war on Lebanon in forms of airstrikes, artillery shelling, demolition operations, assassinations, etc.
On the other hand, some officials in Lebanon, including mainly President Joseph Aoun, PM Nawaf Salam, and a number of ministers have been denying the Resistance its natural right to defend its national and people.
Observers may easily see how the Turkish President anticipated the Israeli threat and maintained that Turkey’s security begins in Beirut, while officials in Beirut are relinquishing the right to resist the occupation forces advancing in South Lebanon.
Instead of shouldering efforts with the Resistance fighters to defend Lebanon, the Lebanese officials have blacklisted the Group and engaged in direct talks with the enemy without securing any of the national rights.
