Naqvi also held talks with Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni, who announced that Iran and Pakistan had agreed to work toward increasing annual trade between the two countries to $10 billion.

Momeni praised Pakistan’s efforts to help reduce tensions between Iran and the United States, describing Pakistan as a major neighboring country bound to Iran by deep religious, cultural, and historical ties.

He said discussions focused on key bilateral issues, including border security, counter-narcotics cooperation, and combating terrorism.

The Iranian minister noted that economic understandings had also been reached, including plans to increase bilateral trade from the current $3 billion annually to $10 billion, stressing that achieving this goal would require coordinated efforts by relevant institutions and ministries in both countries.

Momeni further highlighted the close alignment between Tehran and Islamabad during the recent meeting of interior ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states in Bishkek, thanking Pakistan for its active role in mediation efforts aimed at easing tensions between Iran and the United States.

For his part, Naqvi emphasized that relations between the two countries are rooted in longstanding brotherly ties, saying that challenges facing one nation are felt by the other as well.

He expressed hope that the current crises would soon be resolved through the efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistan’s Army Chief Asim Munir.

Naqvi also voiced appreciation for Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni, and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, expressing hope that ongoing diplomatic efforts would yield positive results.

The Pakistani interior minister arrived in Tehran on Saturday evening, where he was received by Momeni.

The visit comes as part of Pakistan’s efforts to contribute to reducing tensions between Iran and the United States.
