Hezbollah MP Says Resistance Will Thwart Israeli Goals, Warns Against ‘Political Cover’ for Escalation

MP Hasan Fadlallah, Member of Hezbollah's Loyalty to Resistance bloc.

Member of Hezbollah’s Loyalty to Resistance bloc MP Hassan Fadlallah stressed that the Israeli enemy is waging an escalating assault on southern Lebanon, framing the confrontation as a battle of survival and endurance.

Speaking at a Hezbollah-organized commemoration for martyred fighter Hussein Ghassan Fawaz in Jnah, the lawmaker asserted: “We are facing a bloody Israeli aggression aimed at occupying our land and expelling us from it. We have no option but resistance and steadfastness.” He added that resistance fighters were “writing heroic epics on the ground,” while acknowledging the imbalance in military capabilities.

He said the resistance does not function as a conventional army capable of holding fixed defensive lines, but instead seeks to deny Israeli forces any durable presence.

“The resistance’s mission is to prevent it from establishing a foothold and to wear it down through operations,” he said, arguing that even if Israeli forces enter border villages, they would face continued attrition.

MP Fadlallah warned that the people of resistance are paying “a heavy price in blood and property,” adding: “We are not warmongers, but rather we seek a dignified life.” He further stated that the choices facing Lebanon amount to “either surrender or war,” insisting that resistance would continue regardless of cost, according to Hezbollah’s Media Relations.

He also stressed that Israeli operations are taking place “with American approval”, pointing to political complicity in Beirut, arguing that the broader objective is to weaken Lebanon and displace southern communities.

“Iran Committed to Include Lebanon in Deal with US”

On the regional dimension, he stressed that Iran is committed to halting the aggression, stating that Tehran “has not accepted any agreement that excludes Lebanon.” He argued that ‘Israel’ is escalating in an attempt to preempt such outcomes, while accusing Lebanese authorities of providing “a political platform to justify their aggression” by continuing negotiations.

MP Fadlallah also reiterated that past arrangements placing areas south of the Litani River under Lebanese Army control were intended to prevent escalation but, noted that they failed to stop continued Israeli attacks, allowing the Israeli enemy to exploit security gaps along the border.

He added that “our priority will remain confronting the enemy,” asserting that preventing Israeli objectives on the ground would also block attempts to weaken the resistance’s political role. “This does not mean we will allow our rights to be violated,” he said.

The Hezbollah lawmaker also rejected warnings of internal strife, saying: “No one can scare us with talk of sedition and internal war,” and emphasized adherence to Lebanon’s constitutional framework, calling for a return to the Taif Agreement and “genuine national partnership” in governance.

On the political front, he highlighted coordination between Hezbollah and Amal Movement, as well as ongoing engagement with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, saying all decisions on negotiations or responses would be taken jointly.
