Hezbollah’s Loyalty to Resistance: US Sanctions Attempt to Intimidate State Institutions

Hezbollah’s Loyalty to Resistance parliamentary bloc strongly condemned the US sanctions imposed on lawmakers from Hezbollah and allied Amal Movement as well as officers in the Lebanese Army and General Security and the Iranian ambassador to Lebanon.

In a statement on Friday, the bloc described the sanctions as an unjust attack on the Lebanese State and its sovereignty.

Loyalty to Resistance bloc described the sanctions targeting security officers as an attempt to intimidate state institutions, calling it a direct infringement on national sovereignty and an effort to pressure official bodies into compliance with “foreign agendas.”

It urged Lebanese authorities to take a firm stance to protect state institutions from what it described as US interference.

“Our representatives who reflect a broad segment of Lebanese society, are carrying out their national duties by serving citizens and defending their interests, enacting legislation in line with the constitution, strengthening the rule of law, and exercising oversight over the executive authority,” the statement read.

It added that the lawmakers remain committed to protecting sovereignty, advancing institutional reform, combating corruption, and promoting intra-Lebanese dialogue aimed at preserving civil peace, national unity, and preventing internal strife.

The bloc, meanwhile, stressed that the sanctions would not deter its members from continuing their legislative and oversight responsibilities or from voicing the aspirations of their constituents and the legacy of the martyrs.

“Our MPs’ position will remain aligned with the resistance approach in defending land, safeguarding the country, and working toward a capable and just state that ensures security for all citizens,” it vowed.

Earlier on Thursday, the US Treasury imposed sanctions on nine MPs and officials from Hezbollah and the Amal Movement, in addition to officers in the Lebanese Army and General Security as well as the Iranian ambassador to Lebanon for “obstructing the peace process in Lebanon and impeding the disarmament of Hezbollah.”

Hezbollah condemned the move, describing it as an attempt to reinforce the Israeli aggression against Lebanon. In a statement the Lebanese resistance group said Washington has been working to provide the Israeli enemy “with an illusory political boost after its crimes failed to deter the Lebanese people from exercising their legitimate right to resistance in defense of their homeland.”
