Amal Movement said in a statement Thursday that “the measures taken by the US Treasury Department against the brothers Ahmad Baalbeki and Ali Sefewi, besides being unacceptable and unjustified, primarily target the Amal Movement and its political role, which is committed to national issues and protecting the state and its institutions.”
In the context of ongoing US pressure on Lebanon and its resistance forces, the US Treasury Department imposed sanctions Thursday on nine members of parliament and officials from Hezbollah and the Amal Movement (Ahmad Baalbeki and Ali Sefewi), as well as Lebanese security officers.
