People’s Resilience Stronger Than Israeli Brutality and ‘Illusory Ceasefire’ Claims: Hezbollah MP

A Lebanese citizen raises a victory sign amid the rubble of destruction caused by Israeli bombardment in Beirut’s southern suburb, Dahiyeh (May 19, 2026).

Member of Hezbollah’s Loyalty to Resistance parliamentary bloc MP Hussein Hajj Hasan hailed Lebanese people’s resolve

“The people possess an unyielding will to live, persevere, and endure despite all pain,” MP Hajj Hasan told Al-Manar correspondent in Beirut’s southern suburb, Dahiyeh, Hussein Awwad.

“People’s steadfastness, resilience, and faith in Beirut, the South, the Bekaa, and Dahiyeh are stronger than the Israeli enemy’s brutality and the US arrogance, and stronger than the illusions surrounding a so-called ceasefire,” the Hezbollah lawmaker added.

He slammed the authorities in Lebanon over adopting so-called diplomatic trajectory with the Israeli enemy, offering more and more concessions.

“The first achievement of the direct negotiations was a fictitious ceasefire,” MP Hajj Hasan stated, noting that “more than 48 hours have passed since talk of a ceasefire that has not happened and has not been clearly and officially announced.”

The Lebanese lawmaker said there is no so-called ceasefire as the “Israeli enemy continues to commit massacres, kills citizens, bombs homes and issues evacuation threats.” He pointed to recent Israeli massacres in Deir Qanoun al-Nahr and Nabatieh, saying they reflect ongoing attacks.

“There is no ceasefire, because the enemy is a master of deception,” he added.

The authorities in Lebanon, he said, are “driving themselves into a predicament” by adopting such a trajectory, noting that such predicament leaves repercussions on all Lebanese people.

“The authorities have failed to honor their promises, while these concessions bring no benefit to the country and instead risk causing further harm,” MP Hajj Hasan stressed.
