Israel’s Vulnerability in Face of Hezbollah Drones is More Strategic than Tactical: Political Scientist Calls for Withdrawal from Lebanon

In an article titled “Hezbollah’s unjammable drones pose new threat to Israel,” The Wahington Post indicated that “Israeli troops are confronting a new threat in their fight against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon: camera-equipped explosive drones that feed live video back to their operators via a fiber-optic tether to evade detection and traditional signal-jamming defenses.”

The long report mentioned some details about the process of manufacturing or the drones after importing their parts in addition to main features of the loitering gliders.

It also gives a major section to explain the Israeli measures in face of Hezbollah threat, including manufacturing similar “suicide drones” and employing all technologies available to intercept the Lebanese vehicles.

However, the article was ended with a remarkable notion maintained by Gayil Talshir, a political scientist at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, who described Israel’s vulnerability as more strategic than tactical.

“The troops are sitting like sitting ducks inside Lebanon, while the IDF prevents the Lebanese residents of the area from returning to their homes,” she said. Trump administration brokers “must understand that any agreement must include an IDF withdrawal back to Israel’s borders, alongside arrangements that ensure security for the residents of the Gaza envelope and northern Israel.”
