Speaker of Lebanese Parliament Nabih Berri called on Labor Day for a broad national and international push to compel the Israeli enemy to immediately halt its ongoing aggression, urging the Lebanese state and global human rights bodies to act without delay.
Marking International Workers’ Day, Berri expressed deep solidarity with workers across Lebanon, including employers, professionals, farmers, paramedics, medical and nursing staff, and journalists in across southern Lebanon, Bekaa and Beirut’s southern suburb, Dahiyeh.
He said the ongoing Israeli aggression, involving internationally prohibited weapons, has devastated livelihoods, fields, homes, and factories, turning them into what he described as scorched earth.
Speaker Berri also paid tribute to “martyred workers and all martyrs,” saying their sacrifices reaffirm that the land remains an inalienable right.
He stressed that this year’s Labor Day should serve as “an open national call to all state institutions, as well as the international community and its human rights and legal organizations, to take immediate action to stop the Israeli aggression,” according to a statement carried by Al-Manar correspondent.
