Lebanese Labor Ministry: Civil Defense Attack Is ‘Crime Against Humanity’

Lebanon’s Labor Ministry has condemned the targeting of Civil Defense personnel as a crime against humanity, saying the attack is a desperate attempt to break the resilience of the Lebanese people.

In an immediate response to the strike, which hit emergency teams while they were performing rescue operations, Labor Minister Dr. Mohammad Haidar said the assault flagrantly violates international laws and conventions that guarantee the protection of medical and emergency personnel.

“Targeting paramedics while they are rescuing the wounded and providing first aid – resulting in deaths and injuries constitutes a crime against all of humanity, not just against Lebanon,” Haidar said in a statement.

He emphasized that such attacks come within a pattern of desperate attempts to break the Lebanese people’s will to persevere. Despite the bloodshed, he stressed that the sacrifices of the Civil Defense personnel will remain a symbol of dedication and humanitarian commitment.

The minister offered his condolences to the families of the martyrs, affirming that their blood will only strengthen the Lebanese people’s resolve to uphold their right to life, dignity, and sovereignty.

He concluded by calling on the international community and human rights organizations to assume their responsibilities to work immediately to stop these attacks and to hold the perpetrators accountable under international law.
