Haaretz: Hezbollah’s Drones Humiliate Israeli Army

The Israeli newspaper Haaretz has acknowledged the Israeli army’s lack of effective solutions against the growing threat of explosive drones deployed by Hezbollah, with military officials admitting that the Islamic Resistance is successfully defending Lebanon against ongoing occupation aggression.

According to Haaretz, Hezbollah is using quadcopter drones in the current war devices that Israeli enemy forces struggle to detect or jam. The newspaper’s military correspondent quoted an Israeli soldier as saying that a drone “waits in the air or on rooftops and explodes above the troops as soon as there is movement.” This, the soldier added, “makes every movement in an open area risky, including for contractors demolishing houses.”

The correspondent further reported that Hezbollah is now deploying fiber-optic drones, which possess “several advantages over the Israeli army’s detection and interception systems.” These drones are described as “silent and do not emit signals,” rendering them nearly impossible to detect or jam.

‘A Complex Threat and Constant Exposure’

Haaretz correspondent described the drones as “small devices capable of reaching locations where fixed surveillance systems are difficult to deploy, such as above buildings, among mountains, or within densely populated urban areas.” As a result, they provide significant imaging and intelligence-gathering capabilities.

Over recent weeks, the drone threat over southern Lebanon has become one of the most significant challenges facing the Israeli army. The tactic has succeeded in “disrupting the troops’ routine operations and creating a constant sense of exposure,” the report noted, acknowledging that this feeling is exacerbated by the fact that the army’s mission is focused on “demolishing homes in villages.”

For its part, the Israeli army admitted that the drones constitute a “complex threat” and a “very significant challenge.” One Israeli officer stated, “The drone threat has evolved; in the last two months, we have been dealing with hundreds of these drones.”

The officer added: “The army’s solution is to have a soldier look up at the sky. There is no real solution. By the time the helicopter arrives, it’s too late.”

‘The Only Mission Is to Continue the Destruction’

Haaretz further acknowledged that the Israeli army’s primary mission in southern Lebanon is the systematic demolition of homes in villages. Quoting an Israeli commander, the report stated: “The only mission is to continue the destruction.”

Another commander rejected the army’s official claims that forces are working to destroy “terrorist infrastructure,” saying: “We’re not talking about terrorist infrastructure; they’re demolishing everything.”

According to Haaretz, the army is systematically destroying civilian villages to prevent residents from returning. At the end of each day, every commander is required to submit a report on the number of homes demolished.

‘Rewards Based on the Size of the Demolition’

The newspaper reported that contractors “receive rewards based on the size of the demolition.” One contractor stated: “Companies profit according to the number of houses demolished, and we are there for insurance, risking death.”

A Lebanese officer criticized the demolition of civilian homes, saying, “There is no need for it,” calling it a “security threat.”

Ongoing Aggression Despite Ceasefire

The Israeli occupation continues its aggression against southern Lebanon despite a ceasefire agreement. By its own admission, its “mission” focuses on demolishing civilian homes a task its own officers deem pointless.

Criticism continues to mount against the occupation government and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for failing to manage the war, endangering Israeli settlers, and allowing the scales of victory to tilt toward Hezbollah, as the Islamic Resistance develops its combat tactics in defense of Lebanon and its people.
