Billions of dollars in damage to US bases in the Gulf as a result of Iranian strikes

NBC News, citing six sources familiar with the matter, revealed billions of dollars in damage to US military assets and bases in the Gulf region following the Iranian strikes.

According to the report, the damage affected runways, advanced radar systems, dozens of aircraft, as well as warehouses, command centers, hangars, and satellite communications infrastructure, spread across several countries in the Middle East.

“Repair costs could reach approximately $5 billion”

The sources indicated in their initial estimates that repair costs could reach approximately $5 billion, not including losses related to radar systems, weapons, aircraft, and equipment that were disabled or rendered unusable.

According to the source, the affected sites included Camp Buehring in Kuwait, Al Dhafra and Ruwais air bases in the UAE, Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia, and Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, in addition to Kuwaiti warehouses and ports.

“The cost of repairing the Fifth Fleet headquarters is estimated at $200 million.”

Damage was also reported to the main US Navy building in Bahrain, where the cost of repairing the Fifth Fleet headquarters alone was estimated at approximately $200 million, in addition to damage to at least two air defense systems.

An external assessment by the American Enterprise Institute stated that the strikes targeted Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait, a runway at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, and an ammunition storage facility in northern Iraq.

The report indicated losses of military equipment, including a fighter jet, dozens of MQ-9 Reaper drones, two transport aircraft, helicopters, and a reconnaissance aircraft. It is worth noting that the Pentagon estimated last March that the first six days of the war cost more than $11.3 billion, including $5.6 billion for munitions in the first two days alone.

It is also worth noting that attacks were launched against the Islamic Republic of Iran as part of the American-Israeli aggression against it, from American bases in the Gulf states.

In response, Tehran targeted strategic Israeli sites in the occupied Palestinian territories, in addition to American bases in the region, emphasizing that its attacks did not target neighboring countries, but rather American targets.
