Hezbollah Affirms Responding to Israeli Violations despite Netanyahu’s Accusations, Warns Lebanese Gov’t against Commitments in Washington

Hezbollah Statements

Hezbollah issued on Sunday a statement to denounce the Israeli prime minister Benjamin Nentanyahu’s accusations about the violation of the ceasefire and the allegation pertaining to the Zionist “freedom of action” in Lebanon.

In this regard, Hezbollah reiterated the Resistance will respond to the Israeli violations of the ceasefire in addition to the ongoing occupation of Lebanese territories in the South.

What follows in the text of the statement:

Hezbollah has taken note of the remarks made today by the criminal Zionist enemy’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in which he claimed that “Hezbollah is the one undermining the ceasefire,” and that the enemy has the right to “freedom of action” in Lebanon “in accordance with the agreement with the United States and Lebanon.” Hezbollah strongly condemns Netanyahu’s statements and warns of their grave danger, particularly in terms of attempting to implicate the Lebanese authority in a bilateral agreement concluded solely between him and Washington, in which Lebanon had no role, opinion, or position, and therefore did not approve.

Accordingly, Hezbollah affirms the following:

The continued targeting by the Resistance of “Israeli” enemy gatherings on our occupied land, and its shelling of enemy settlements in northern occupied Palestine, constitutes a legitimate response to its ongoing violations of the ceasefire since the very first day of the temporary truce announcement, which have exceeded 500 breaches across land, sea, and air, including shelling, demolition, and destruction of homes, resulting in dozens of martyrs and wounded among our steadfast people.

The extension of the truce for additional weeks was supposed—according to statements by the Lebanese authority—to result in a genuine ceasefire in which the enemy would halt its violations and attacks, especially its demolition and destruction of homes in the south. Instead, it escalated its aggression and attacks, confirming its criminal nature, treachery, and contempt for all international laws and conventions.

The Lebanese authority claimed that its primary condition for attending its ill-fated meeting in Washington with the enemy was to demand an end to its attacks and the beginning of its withdrawal from our occupied lands. However, we did not hear any clear and public statement to that effect. On the contrary, what was issued by Lebanon’s representative was merely praise for the American president—the partner of the enemy in shedding Lebanese blood—thereby encouraging the enemy to continue its aggression and violations.

The Lebanese authority has placed itself in a dangerous predicament when it chose to appear in a single disgraceful image alongside representatives of an illegitimate usurping entity that violates its land and sovereignty and continues to kill its people, while pursuing paths that legitimize the enemy’s aggression.

Today, the authority stands silent and incapable of fulfilling even its most basic national duties toward its land and people, watching as the enemy demolishes homes and devastates everything in its path. It is required to provide a clear explanation to its people regarding what the enemy claims to be an agreement granting it freedom to attack, destroy, and kill.

Hezbollah clearly and decisively affirms that the continued violation by the enemy of the ceasefire, its attacks involving shelling, bulldozing, and destruction of homes, or the targeting of civilians—and above all, its continued occupation of Lebanese territory and violations of its sovereignty—will be met with response and with a Resistance that is present and ready to defend its land and its people. This is a right guaranteed by international conventions. We will not wait for or rely on failed diplomacy that has proven its ineffectiveness, nor on an authority that has failed to protect its homeland. The people of this land remain the true guarantee in confronting this aggression and expelling the occupation.
