Lebanon Ceasefire in Name Only as Israeli Enemy Kills Citizens, Bombs Houses in South

Vehicle bursts into flames after an Israeli strike in the southern Lebanese town of Yuhmor Al-Shaqeef (Saturday, April 25, 2026).

At least five Lebanese citizens were martyred on Saturday as the Israeli enemy steps up attacks on southern Lebanon, in violation of the ceasefire which took effect earlier this month.

Al-Manar correspondent in southern Lebanon reported two drone strikes targeting a truck and a motorcycle in the town of Yuhmor Al-Shaqeef, near Nabatieh.

Shortly after, Lebanese Health Ministry announced that the Israeli strikes on Yuhmor Al-Shaqeef led to martyrdom of four people.

Earlier on Saturday, Al-Manar correspondent in Western Bekaa reported that a woman, mother of four children, succumbed to wounds sustained by an Israeli attack on the town of Suhmor.

Meanwhile, the Israeli enemy went ahead with its systematic campaign to destroy southern border towns, with wide-scale demolitions being carried out in the towns of Khiam, Bint Jbeil and Naqoura on Saturday, our correspondents across southern Lebanon reported.

On the other hand, our correspondents reported Israeli artillery shelling targeted the towns of Houla, Al-Qantara, Al-Tiri and Deir Seryan. Occupation forces also torched a number of homes in the town of Taybeh.

The latest escalation comes despite a ceasefire that took effect earlier on April 17. Although the ceasefire was intended to curb hostilities, Israeli strikes, drone activity, and artillery shelling across continued across multiple areas in the South and the Western Bekaa.

Border towns have suffered extensive damage due to repeated bombardment and demolition operations, with many residents still unable to return to their homes. Civilian infrastructure, including houses, roads, and basic services, has also been heavily affected.
