Hezbollah on Thursday denounced in the strongest terms treacherous and brutal attack which killed Lebanese journalist Amal Khalil and injured her colleague Zeinab Faraj a day earlier in the southern town of Al-Tiri.
In a statement, Hezbollah Media Relations said Amal Khalil “joined the ranks of martyred journalists while carrying out her national journalistic duty of conveying the truth and exposing the crimes of the enemy.
“Amal Khalil, a courageous field reporter whose steadfastness and resilience are witnessed by the very soil of the South, a land steeped in the sacrifices and contributions of its people, has joined the ranks of heroic martyred journalists while performing her national journalistic duty of conveying the truth and exposing the crimes of the Zionist enemy.”

Hezbollah accused the Israeli enemy of deliberately targeting the journalists, noting that Faraj was also wounded and that paramedics were prevented from reaching them after they had taken shelter in a house, which was later struck.
The statement described the incident as a “heinous and fully-fledged crime,” stressing that it reflects an attempt to silence media outlets reporting from the ground and exposing the Israeli crimes.
“It also reveals the desperate and futile attempts to silence the free voice and break the will of the national resistance media that exposes its crimes and unveils its savage, criminal face.”
Hezbollah extended its condolences to Khalil’s family, the staff of Al-Akhbar, and the Lebanese media community, while wishing Faraj a swift recovery.
It added that free and independent national media would continue its work despite the ongoing Israeli attacks, stressing that such actions would not succeed in silencing voices reporting on the ground.
“We affirm that the journey of free and independent national media will continue, stronger and more resilient than ever. Neither the enemy’s terrorism nor the roar of its missiles will succeed in silencing this voice that speaks of truth and freedom.”
Earlier on Wednesday, the Israeli enemy targeted journalist Khalil, Al-Akhbar newspaper correspondent in south Lebanon, along with other journalist Zeina Faraj. The two journalists were covering the move by the Lebanese Army to establish a checkpoint in the southern Lebanese village of Al-Tiri.

After targeting them, the Israeli enemy prevented ambulances from reaching the journalists. After hours of siege, paramedics managed to evacuate Faraj, but failed to do so to Khalil after being targeted again by the Israeli enemy.
Late on Wednesday, paramedics managed to recover Khalil’s body.
