Defiant Return: Displaced Families Head Back to Beirut’s Southern Suburbs Despite Widespread Destruction

Displaced Lebanese continue to return to Beirut’s southern suburbs following the cessation of Israeli aggression and the implementation of a ceasefire, after weeks of offensives that subjected the area to hundreds of airstrikes.

During the offensive, the southern suburbs were hit by hundreds of airstrikes targeting residential neighborhoods and various buildings, resulting in widespread damage to property and infrastructure, as well as large waves of displacement to safer areas.

The entrances to the suburbs have witnessed a gradual return of residents, many of whom inspected their homes and neighborhoods despite the scale of the destruction. They affirmed their determination to return to their areas and rebuild their homes.

Several residents praised the steadfastness of the resistance during the offensive, considering their return to the suburbs an act of holding onto their land and restoring life to the affected neighborhoods, despite the difficult conditions left by the bombardment.
