Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf has stated that any potential ceasefire in Lebanon would be the direct result of the sustained resistance by Hezbollah and the broader Axis of Resistance.
“The completion and consolidation of a comprehensive ceasefire in Lebanon will be the result of the resistance and steadfast struggle of the great Hezbollah and the unity of the Axis of Resistance,” Qalibaf wrote on X on Tuesday.

His remarks came as Hezbollah carried out successive retaliatory strikes against sensitive Israeli military targets and illegal settlements in northern occupied territories. The Lebanese resistance movement has also sustained reprisals against Israeli troops and aerial assets attempting to advance in southern Lebanon.
The counterstrikes aim to counter the Israeli regime’s ongoing violations of a 2024 ceasefire agreement, under which Tel Aviv was obligated to end its deadly escalation against Lebanon.
Iran has stressed that a comprehensive ceasefire in Lebanon is an indivisible part of the agreement that ended the unprovoked American-Israeli aggression against Lebanon last Wednesday. Hours after the truce was announced, the Israeli regime violated it on Wednesday morning by launching devastating strikes on civilian areas across Lebanon.
In response, Hezbollah launched a series of retaliatory strikes a day later, targeting multiple Israeli military and strategic installations. The retaliatory operations continued with full intensity on Wednesday, April 15, as Israel kept targeting civilian areas, particularly in southern Lebanon.
Hezbollah fighters on Wednesday targeted the settlements of Metulla, Kfar Giladi, Kiryat Shmona, Doviv, Shlomi, Matzuva, Ya’ara, Avdon, Kfar Vradim, Nahariya, and Shavei Tzion with multiple rocket barrages.
“Resistance and Iran are one soul, both in war and in ceasefire,” Qalibaf stated.
He added that the United States is obliged to abide by any potential ceasefire in Lebanon and must “withdraw from the ‘Israel First’ mistake” – a reference to Washington’s long-standing policy of unconditional support for Tel Aviv’s deadly aggression and occupation in the region.
