Iraqi Resistance: Five Strikes on US Bases in 24 Hours Amid Expanding Confrontation

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq announced it carried out five operations targeting US military bases across the region within the past 24 hours, marking a continued escalation in its campaign.

In a statement released early Tuesday, the group reaffirmed that “the presence of US forces inside Baghdad poses a major threat to its residents,” signaling its ongoing intent to intensify operations.

The announcement follows a wave of recent attacks, including eight operations on Monday and 41 on Saturday, involving drones and missiles targeting US positions in Iraq and across the wider region.

The Iraqi resistance stated that these operations are part of a broader response to ongoing US-Israeli aggression, particularly in light of the war on Iran since February 28. The growing frequency and scale of attacks highlight an expanding confrontation targeting American military presence on multiple fronts.

PMF Reports US-Israeli Airstrikes on Its Positions

In parallel, the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) confirmed that its positions in Iraq were targeted by treacherous US-Israeli airstrikes overnight.

According to the PMF, three strikes hit the 45th Brigade in the Jurf al-Nasr sector in Babil Governorate, while another strike targeted the 31st Brigade in the Karma area, east of Anbar.

Despite the attacks, the PMF reported no human losses, emphasizing that its forces continue to carry out their security duties and remain on high alert to preserve stability.

Separately, Iraq’s Ministry of Defense reported that the Martyr Mohammad Alaa Air Base came under attack with 122mm Grad rockets launched from the outskirts of Baghdad, underscoring the widening scope of military activity inside Iraq.

Kataib Hezbollah Warns of Renewed Strikes on US Targets

The operations command of Kataib Hezbollah stated that the suspension of attacks on espionage and sabotage sites near the US embassy in Baghdad remains conditional.

In a statement, the group said the halt in operations “was only on the condition that residential areas in Baghdad and other provinces are not targeted,” warning that it would resume strikes if this condition is violated.

The group added that it is prepared to “resume shelling these sites with force, reducing them to rubble” should the enemy fail to adhere to this condition.

Kataib Hezbollah emphasized that its operations are strictly aimed at confronting “the Zionist-American enemy and its allies” and protecting their interests, stressing that its attacks do not extend beyond what it described as legitimate resistance.

It also condemned the targeting of civilian gatherings and homes, citing the shelling of a residence belonging to Najeerfan Idris Barzani. The statement added that his stance opposing Masoud Barzani and his son, Masrour, may explain the targeting.
