Israeli Aggression Targets Beirut Suburbs and South Lebanon

Israeli enemy forces launched a series of attacks on Lebanon early Monday morning, targeting the southern suburbs of Beirut and multiple towns in the south, as the ongoing aggression enters a new phase.

The strikes on the capital’s suburbs hit several areas, including a residential building in the Rahab district. Prior to the bombardment, the Israeli military issued threats warning of imminent strikes across a wide swath of the southern suburbs, including Haret Hreik, Ghobeiri, Laylaki, Hadath, Burj al-Barajneh, Tahwita al-Ghadir, and Chiyah.

In southern Lebanon, Israeli warplanes bombed the Al-Sama’iya School, while ground forces reportedly set fire to houses in the coastal town of Naqoura. Simultaneously, Israeli airstrikes targeted a home in Yater, the town of Arnoun in the Nabatieh district, and the towns of Barashit and Hanouyeh. Artillery shelling also hit the outskirts of Maroun al-Ras, Yaroun, and Bint Jbeil.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health confirmed that five people were killed in a separate Israeli airstrike on the southern town of Shaqra on Sunday night.

The latest wave of violence is part of a broader Israeli military campaign against Lebanon that resumed in the early hours of March 2nd, with intense bombardment concentrated on the south, the Bekaa Valley, and the southern suburbs of Beirut.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has warned that Lebanon is facing a deepening humanitarian crisis as a result of the escalation. Since March 2nd, intensified Israeli attacks and widespread displacement threats have forced more than one million people to flee their homes.

In response to the aggression, the Islamic Resistance has conducted operations in defense of Lebanon and its people, confronting Israeli forces along the border and targeting military posts and settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories.
