The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Sunday the launch of the 86th wave of Operation True Promise 4 at dawn, under the slogan “O God of the Worlds.”
The operation was dedicated to the martyred journalists Ali Shoeib, Mohammad Ftouni, and Fatima Ftouni, as well as to Armenian and Christian martyrs of the Sacred Defense and the ongoing war. It targeted US and Israeli objectives across the region.
In a statement, the IRGC said the first phase of the operation involved coordinated missile and drone strikes on air operations infrastructure, drone platforms, and weapons depots at US bases in Victoria, Arifjan, and Al-Kharj.
It added that subsequent phases targeted positions used as shelters or operational sites linked to US forces, Israel, and the Komala Party in several locations, including Arad, the Negev Desert, Tel Aviv, and Erbil, as well as the US Fifth Fleet and Al Dhafra Air Base. The strikes were described as precision operations carried out in successive waves.
The statement further declared that widespread explosions and rising columns of smoke, along with images circulating of damaged US aircraft, demonstrated the impact of the attacks. It noted that US-allied governments and media outlets in the region attempt to downplay their effects.
US, Israeli Universities ‘Legitimate Targets’
Meanwhile, the IRGC threatened retaliation against US university campuses in the Middle East, in retaliation for US-Israeli strikes have destroyed two Iranian universities.
In a statement carried by the Fars news agency, it warned that US universities in the region could be targeted unless Washington issues an official condemnation of the bombings by noon on Monday, March 30.
“From now on, all universities of the occupying entity (Israel) and American universities in West Asia will be considered legitimate targets,” in response to the destruction of Iranian academic institutions, it said, calling on staff and students at US-linked universities in the region, as well as nearby residents, to stay at least one kilometer away from such facilities for their safety.
Iranian media reported several US and Israeli strikes on educational facilities, including Isfahan University of Technology and, Iran University of Science and Technology in Tehran.
This is a building in Iran university of science and technology (IUST) that was targeted today in Tehran. This university -one of the leading engineering universities of Iran- is where I got my BSc and MSc degree in engineering years ago.
