Occupation Forces Impose West Ramallah Siege

The Israeli army announced Saturday morning the imposition of a security cordon on several villages west of Ramallah, claiming it was searching for a man who allegedly opened fire at the “Hashmonaim” checkpoint before fleeing. No injuries were reported.

The move comes as Israeli security officials warned of what they described as a “wave of attacks” resulting from government policies. This follows a double attack near Beit She’an and Afula on Friday, which killed an Israeli man and woman; the perpetrator, from Qabatiya south of Jenin, was wounded.

Israeli media quoted a security source familiar with the details, who stated, “There is a situation where the simmering tensions in the West Bank are being ignored, and to avoid further inflaming the situation, the issue of illegal residents infiltrating Israel is being overlooked.” The source added this atmosphere was “reminiscent of the days leading up to October 7th.”

Meanwhile, for a second consecutive day, Israeli occupation forces continued a large-scale assault on the town of Qabatiya in the northern occupied West Bank. New military reinforcements were deployed Saturday morning, with vehicles patrolling neighborhoods and bulldozers blocking main roads with earth mounds.
