Israeli Escalation Intensifies in Southern Lebanon with Widespread Airstrikes

Smoke rises after an Israeli strike on southern Lebanon (March 2026).

Israeli aggression against Lebanon continued to escalate on Sunday, with intensified airstrikes and drone attacks targeting multiple areas across southern Lebanon.

At dawn, an Israeli drone struck a car at the area linking the towns of Burj Al-Muluk, Khiam and Kfar Kila, wounding three people on board.

According to Al-Manar’s correspondent, Israeli warplanes carried out successive raids on several towns, including Zawtar Al-Gharbiya and the outskirts of Mashghara, with no casualties reported. Additional strikes targeted the towns of Al-Sawana and Al-Sultaniya in the early hours of Sunday.

Our correspondent also reported that a barrage of artillery, smoke, and machine-gun fire targeted the area near of the confrontation lines between Israeli forces and resistance fighters in the eastern and northern neighborhods of Khiam city border city. Airstrikes were also reported near the city.

Airstrikes also hit Al-Rihan and Al-Qatrani in the Jezzine district, while Wadi Al-Haniya came under intermittent artillery shelling. Nabatieh al-Fawqa was also targeted in a separate raid on Sunday morning.

In Bint Jbeil, an Israeli drone launched a two-stage strike near Salah Ghandour Hospital, raising concerns over the proximity of attacks to civilian infrastructure and health facilities. Meanwhile, a building along the Haboush–Nabatieh highway was hit by two consecutive airstrikes at dawn, though neither missile detonated.

Shortly after midnight, Israeli warplanes struck the town of Kfar Tebnit. Additional attacks targeted the border town of Naqoura, while artillery shelling intermittently hit Mount Labouneh on its outskirts.

The series of strikes reflects a continued escalation in Israeli military operations across southern Lebanon.
