Hezbollah Media Committee Mourns Martyred Al-Manar Anchor Mohammad Sherri

Hezbollah Statements

Hezbollah Media Committee denounced on Wednesday the barbaric Israeli crime of bombing the civilians in Beirut and led to the martyrdom of Hajj Mohammad Sherri, the head of the Lebanese channel’s Political Programs Department, along with his devout and fasting wife, and the injury of several members of his family and other inhabitants.

“The vile attacks perpetrated by the Zionist enemy against the civilian population are not surprising given the cowardly nature of this enemy, which does not hesitate to commit war crimes and crimes against humanity against children, families, and ambulance crews. All of this is done in an attempt to create equations that it believes will deflect the might of the Men of Allah on the battlefield and shift its crisis from its internal front to the Lebanese interior and its social fabric,” the committee said in a statement.

What follows is the text of the statement:

The martyr, Haj Mohammad Sherri, was a paragon of responsible journalism and committed media. He possessed a noble message, a generous heart, and an open mind. Everyone attests to his kindness, refined character, and genuine humility.

On screen, he was a professional journalist who engaged in dialogue and debate, shaping the framework of media resistance within the bounds of objectivity, ethics, and the pursuit of common ground.

Conferences and meetings will miss you, Haj Muhammad, as will your colleagues at Al-Manar, your guests on political talk shows, and your audience, whose sacrifices and suffering you always shared.

Haj Mohammad, like many other journalists and civilians, fell victim to the indiscriminate Zionist targeting of civilians, a matter that should be condemned internationally and pursued legally by the relevant international institutions.

Hezbollah’s Media Authority, while extending its deepest condolences and congratulations to the dear Al-Manar family and the resistance, and to the family of the martyr Sherri, congratulating them on this highest honor and wishing their wounded a speedy recovery, calls on press bodies and international organizations to condemn the Israeli occupation for its brutal crimes against journalists and civilians, regardless of the media institution they belong to. It also calls on the Lebanese government to exert every effort to protect innocent civilians by all means.

Hezbollah Women Unit

In turn, Hezbollah Women Unit issued a statement that denounced the crime of targeting Martyr Sherri and other civilians in Beirut, stressing that harming journalists aims at concealing truth.

The statement also blamed the Israeli enemy for the consequences of the crime, calling for an international move to stop targeting the journalists.
