Netanyahu Dodges Calls for Official Inquiry into October 7th Events

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is facing mounting pressure as he refrains from establishing a government committee to investigate the significant events of October 7th and their aftermath. This situation continues to fuel concerns about the government’s handling of the Al-Aqsa operation.

Instead of advancing a governmental inquiry, Netanyahu, backed by his right-wing majority in the Knesset, is advocating for the creation of a non-governmental commission of inquiry that would operate independently of the Supreme Court. In a pointed critique, he has accused the political leadership of failing to take decisive action since the events of October 7, 2023, sparking debate about accountability and transparency in the wake of the crisis.
