The Iranian government announced that a new round of indirect negotiations between Tehran and Washington will be held Thursday in Geneva, reaffirming Iran’s commitment to a fair and swift agreement grounded in mutual respect.

Government spokesperson Fatima Mohajerani said on Wednesday the upcoming talks follow previous understandings reached between the two sides. Speaking on the sidelines of a Cabinet meeting, she noted that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi briefed ministers on the negotiations and that the Foreign Ministry would provide detailed updates on specialized aspects of the discussions.

Mohajerani also confirmed that the Cabinet reviewed a draft framework agreement for joint cooperation between Iran and the Sultanate of Oman during its session.

In a post on X, Araghchi stressed that the negotiations are based on prior agreements and underscored Tehran’s determination to reach a just and rapid deal. He reiterated that Iran will not pursue nuclear weapons under any circumstances, while firmly safeguarding its people’s right to peaceful nuclear technology.

“Iran is present at the negotiating table with the same courage with which it defends its sovereignty,” FM Araghchi said, emphasizing Tehran’s readiness to address shared concerns and secure mutual interests through peaceful diplomacy.

Separately, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei dismissed US claims regarding Iran’s nuclear program and alleged intercontinental ballistic missile development, rejecting the accusations as unfounded.

President Pezeshkian: “Promising Prospects” for Talks

Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed optimism that the forthcoming round of indirect negotiations in Geneva would help move the process forward.

During a meeting with Iranian economic activists, Pezeshkian said the outlook for the talks is positive and voiced hope for continued progress at Thursday’s session, which will be attended by Araghchi. He added that the negotiations are being conducted under the guidance and direction of Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei.

Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf affirmed that “all options are available—diplomacy rooted in dignity or defense that makes any aggressor regret its actions,” he said. “If negotiations proceed with respect for Iran’s honor and mutual interests, we are ready.”

Geneva hosted the second round of talks between Tehran and Washington last Tuesday, following an earlier session in Muscat on February 6.
