Third Round of Iran-US Talks Set for February 26 in Geneva

The third round of indirect Inuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States is scheduled to take place in Geneva on Thursday, February 26, according to officials from Oman, Iran, and the United States.

Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi announced in a post on his X account that the Iran-US talks have been scheduled for Geneva on Thursday of this week. He expressed his pleasure in confirming the arrangement and described the upcoming meeting as a positive effort aimed at taking further steps toward finalizing an agreement.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi and a US official also confirmed that indirect nuclear negotiations between the two sides are planned for Thursday.

Meanwhile, Aragchi held a telephone conversation with Al Busaidi on Sunday night to discuss the latest status of the indirect talks between Iran and the US. During the call, the two sides consulted on the arrangements for holding the next round of nuclear negotiations.

The second round of indirect nuclear talks between Iran and the US was held in Switzerland on February 17, mediated by Oman. In comments following the conclusion of those talks, Araqchi said the negotiations were conducted in a serious atmosphere and were more constructive compared to the earlier round.

According to the foreign minister, various ideas were proposed and reviewed during the talks in an effort to move toward drafting a text. He said the two sides reached a general agreement on guiding principles and would from now on discuss those principles in order to enter the stage of writing the text.
