Lebanese President Jospeh Aoun met on Wednesday the head of the negotiating delegation to the “Mechanism” Simon Karam ahead of a meeting by the committee overseeing the 2024 ceasefire on Friday.
President Aoun provided him with his directives ahead of Friday meeting in the southern Lebanese border town of Naqoura, according to a post by the Lebanese Presidency’s X account.

Earlier this month, Lebanese and Israeli civilian delegates held their first direct talks in decades, within the framework of the ceasefire monitoring mechanism, which meets at the UNIFIL headquarters in Naqoura, under international supervision including the United States, France, and the United Nations.
The Friday meeting comes amid an escalating Israeli incitement campaign against Lebanon, its army and its resistance, with Zionist circles confirming that Washington is not exerting any serious pressure on Tel Aviv to reduce its aggression against Lebanon.
