Hezbollah Denounces Israeli Aggression and Abductions in Southern Lebanon

Hezbollah Statements

Hezbollah condemned on Tuesday what it described as a grave Israeli escalation in southern Lebanon, affirming that the Israeli enemy was violating Lebanese sovereignty through incursions, abductions, and deadly attacks against civilians, according to an official statement issued by the group.

The statement denounced a “dangerous and criminal aggression” carried out by Israeli occupation forces who infiltrated the town of al-Habbariyeh in the Hasbaya district and abducted Atiwi Atiwi, the Islamic Group’s official for the Hasbaya and Marjayoun areas, from his home. Hezbollah said the raid involved assaults on Atiwi and members of his family, as well as the intimidation of civilians.

Hezbollah also condemned two additional Israeli attacks: the targeting of a vehicle in the town of Yanouh, which resulted in the killing of three people, including a child, and the killing of a Lebanese civilian in Aita Al-Shaab. These crimes, the statement said, “reaffirm the criminal and savage nature of the Israeli enemy, whose conduct is rooted in killing, terrorism, piracy, and utter contempt for Lebanese sovereignty.”

According to Hezbollah, the latest developments signal the onset of “a new phase of Israeli recklessness,” characterized by incursions, abductions, and detentions, exposing all residents of southern Lebanon to direct and continuous danger. The party warned that these violations are taking place in the absence of effective deterrence or protection, stressing that the Israeli enemy operates outside all legal and moral restraints and shows no regard for international law or conventions.

In this context, Hezbollah called on the Lebanese state to shoulder its full national responsibilities, particularly following the recent visit of the prime minister to the south, where he witnessed firsthand the suffering of the population and the ongoing Israeli presence on Lebanese land. The statement urged the government to end what it described as silence and inaction and to adopt firm and unequivocal positions.

“The Lebanese state is today required to take decisive measures, to act immediately at the political, diplomatic, and legal levels, to seriously work to protect its citizens, and not to content itself with statements that fail to deter the enemy from persisting in its aggression and lawlessness,” the statement said.
