3 Iranian Police Officers Martyred in Clashes with Gunmen

Three Iranian police officers and a civilian were martyred in an armed clash in Iran’s southeastern Kerman province, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on Tuesday.

According to a statement released by the Public Relations Office of the Quds Headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Ground Force, the incident occurred early on Tuesday when armed elements clashed with law enforcement forces at an inspection checkpoint located at the entrance of Fahraj County in Kerman Province.

The confrontation took place along the Zahedan-Fahraj road, resulting in the deaths of three members of Iran’s law enforcement forces and one ordinary civilian.

Authorities said the case is currently under investigation by security and law enforcement agencies.

This attack follows an incident last week in Zahedan, a city in Sistan-Baluchestan province near the borders with Pakistan and Afghanistan, in which three members of the IRGC were also martyred after coming under fire during a border-security mission in the area.
