Medical and media sources reported today that a Palestinian man was martyred by Israeli occupation forces east of Gaza City, outside their declared deployment zones, according to ambulance and emergency crews.
In a related incident, the Nasser Medical Complex reported that a child was wounded by Israeli army fire west of Khan Younis, also outside deployment zones, highlighting the continued targeting of civilians in areas distant from active conflict lines.
Meanwhile, the Gaza Strip’s Ministry of Health announced the deaths of 10 children due to the severe cold gripping the territory, underscoring the catastrophic humanitarian conditions exacerbated by critical shortages of heating, shelter, and supplies.
On the ground, Israeli reconnaissance aircraft overflew Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, coinciding with three airstrikes and artillery shelling within areas where occupation forces are deployed east of the city. Artillery shelling and gunfire from tanks and helicopters also targeted areas east of the Bureij and Jabalia refugee camps, as well as east of Khan Younis and Gaza City.

Further military actions included Israeli helicopters firing on the eastern side of the Bureij camp, military vehicles opening fire east of Gaza City, and renewed airstrikes east of Deir al-Balah. In an escalated tactic, Israeli forces demolished several homes east of Gaza City. Heavy gunfire from military vehicles was reported south of Khan Younis, alongside artillery shelling and gunfire from vehicles east of the city.
This escalation occurs amidst ongoing aggression against Gaza, with urgent warnings of a worsening humanitarian catastrophe, particularly due to the targeting of civilians and infrastructure during harsh weather conditions.
Ajith Songwe, Director of the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in the occupied Palestinian territory, warned that the killing of civilians continues despite a declared ceasefire. He called on the international community to increase pressure and support to halt the bloodshed and begin reconstruction, emphasizing the crisis is far from over.
On the political front, Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem asserted that current administrative arrangements in Gaza do not signify the end of Hamas’s presence or that of other Palestinian factions. He clarified that the movement’s withdrawal from administrative duties aims to alleviate public suffering and does not represent a retreat from its national role or liberation project, vowing continued struggle for Palestinian rights.
