France: US, Israeli Burned During Lyon Protests

Screen capture of a video showing protesters burning US and Israeli flags in the French city of Lyon (Saturday, October 31, 2026).

Footage emerges of protesters burning US and Israeli flags during the protests in Lyon, France’s third-largest city, on Saturday.

In the video, an individual stomps on the Israeli flag after laying it out on the transparent roof of a tram stop.

The crowd cheers as an individual first sets the US flag on fire.

The cheers apparently get louder and are accompanied by booing when the Israeli flag is held up, before it too is set alight.

Some of the crowd chant “Israel the murderer.”

France’s Interior Ministry said over 300,000 joined the protests nationwide, which saw clashes with police in a number of locations.

The demonstrations, against the rising cost of living and deteriorating conditions in educational institutions, marked the third consecutive weekend of protests across France.

The unrest reached its peak on October 17, prompting authorities to impose nighttime curfews in parts of the country.

An estimated 320,000 people joined Saturday’s protests, with most of gatherings remained peaceful, although police used force in several locations. French media reported that 296 protesters were arrested nationwide.
