The Public Relations Office of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy announced on Friday that two oil tankers were involved in an incident and came to a halt in the Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement, the Iranian forces said one of the two violating vessels was in the eastern while the other was in the western part of the Strait of Hormuz
The oil tankers were attempting to navigate an unauthorized route after switching off their navigation and positioning systems, reportedly with the support of the US military.

The IRGC Navy said the tankers ignored several radio warnings before entering an unsafe area, where they were involved in an incident and stopped off the southern coast of the strait.
The statement blamed the incident and the fires reported aboard the vessels on “the hostile actions of the terrorist US military and Washington’s disregard for Iranian regulations governing navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.”
Earlier on Thursday, the IRGC Navy said that three offending oil tankers, which were passing through an unauthorized route south of the Strait of Hormuz, struck mines, triggering explosions and fires.
