The Lebanese Army has rejected Israeli allegations questioning its operations south of the Litani River, affirming that it remains committed to its assigned duties and obligations despite Israeli threats and repeated violations of the cessation-of-hostilities understandings.

In a statement issued late Tuesday, the Lebanese Army Command said its operations at a military facility in Kfar, Bint Jbeil district, began in December 2025 and continued until March 16, 2026, when the army evacuated the site at the request of the Ceasefire Monitoring Mechanism (CMM) due to Israeli threats to bomb it.

The army said it had informed the CMM, frequently referred to simply as the “Mechanism”, with military equipment and ammunition still inside the facility, which was subsequently targeted by Israeli shelling. Repeated requests to resume work and complete the evacuation were met with Israeli refusal, the Lebanese Army Command added.

Military units resumed operations on August 15 in coordination with the Mechanism and completed the mission on October 16, formally closing the facility, according to the statement.

The Army Command also clarified that footage circulated by the Israeli occupation showing a truck that was targeted dated back to July 3, 2026, in the Siddiqin-Tyre area, approximately one week after the framework agreement was signed. Emphasizing that the relevant facts and procedures were documented with the monitoring Mechanism, the Lebanese Army said the Israeli allegations formed part of a disinformation campaign aimed at undermining its credibility domestically and internationally, particularly amid ongoing negotiations. The Army Command reaffirmed its commitment to fulfilling its duties and carrying out its assigned missions, contrasting its adherence to its obligations with continued Israeli attacks and violations of the existing understandings.
