According to the statement, the supertanker was carrying more than two million barrels of crude oil. It allegedly attempted to transit an unauthorized route while evading the US military by switching off all its tracking systems and radar equipment. However, the vessel struck a naval mine, triggering a massive explosion in the engine room and bringing the vessel to a halt.
