China Urges ‘Israel’ to Halt, Reverse Forced Establishment of West Bank Settlements

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in a meeting with Israeli President Isaac Herzog in Baku on the sidelines of the Seventh Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia – CICA (October 15, 2026).

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi urged ‘Israel’ to halt and reverse its forced establishment of West Bank settlements, in a meeting with Israeli President Isaac Herzog in Azerbaijan.

He described the Palestinian cause as “the greatest historical injustice of this century,” reiterating Beijing’s support for a two-state solution, China’s Foreign Ministry announced on Friday.

The Chinese FM stressed that a two- solution remains the path to resolving the Palestinian question.

“Promoting peace and reconciliation in the region is the cornerstone of China’s Middle East policy,” Wang said, according to the ministry.

Wang also stressed that the immediate priority was to fully open access to the Gaza Strip to prevent the humanitarian catastrophe from worsening.

China, he added, was willing to work with the international community to bring all parties back to dialogue and consultations as soon as possible and “pursue a political settlement to the conflict.”
