US President Donald Trump’s approval rating has fallen to a record low in a new Fox News poll, with voters overwhelmingly disapproving of his handling of inflation, the economy and the US war on Iran amid mounting concerns over the cost of living.

The survey, conducted October 9–12 among 1,202 registered voters, found that only 36% approved of Trump’s overall job performance, while 64% disapproved — the lowest rating recorded in a Fox News poll across either of his presidential terms.

Trump’s weakest rating concerned inflation, with just 22% approving of his handling of rising prices and 77% disapproving. Disapproval also reached 70% on the economy, 69% on tariffs and 64% on foreign policy.

The cost of living emerged as voters’ leading economic concern, cited by six in 10 respondents. Meanwhile, 74% rated the US economy negatively, 53% expected it to worsen over the coming year, and 55% said inflation was not at all under control.

The poll also underscored public opposition to the war on Iran, with 42% saying they were extremely concerned about the conflict. Six in 10 respondents opposed US military action against Iran, while 28% approved of Trump’s handling of the war, according to the survey.

The conflict has intensified economic pressures through rising energy prices. US inflation accelerated to 3.7% year-on-year in September, while gasoline prices rose sharply amid the ongoing US-Israeli war on Iran, according to data released Wednesday.

The findings come less than three weeks before the November 3 midterm elections, with Republicans facing growing voter dissatisfaction over economic conditions and the administration’s foreign policy. The survey’s margin of sampling error was 2.5 percentage points.
