The Yemeni Armed Forces announced Tuesday that they had shot down a Saudi-operated “Wing Loong II” armed reconnaissance drone as it conducted what they described as “hostile missions” over Saada Governorate.

In a statement, the Armed Forces said the aircraft was targeted with an appropriate weapon, resulting in its downing.

Separately, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, reported Monday that Saudi warplanes had launched 119 airstrikes and missile attacks over the preceding 24 hours, targeting civilian sites and residential areas in the capital, Sanaa, as well as the governorates of Al-Jawf, Taiz, Saada, Marib, Lahj, Al-Bayda, and Ibb. He confirmed that the attacks resulted in civilian casualties, including deaths and injuries among women and children.

Brigadier General Saree explained that F-15 and Typhoon aircraft took off from the Khamis Mushait and Taif bases to conduct the airstrikes, while missile attacks were launched from the Najran and Jizan regions.

The Armed Forces spokesman noted that the total number of Saudi airstrikes and missile attacks has reached 2,177 since the start of the recent escalation against the country.
