From Destruction to Solidarity: The Scene a Day After Israeli Aggression on South Lebanon

A day after the Israeli aggression struck residential areas across south Lebanon, the scale of destruction becomes fully visible, as scenes of social solidarity unfold sending a clear message to the friend and foe alike that the people of Lebanon do not bow to aggression, but respond with unity, resilience, and an unwavering will to endure.

Preliminary assessments on Thursday revealed extensive destruction to residential neighborhoods, leaving dozens of housing units destroyed or partially damaged and forcing many families from their homes.

Al-Manar correspondents were on the ground in two of the towns targeted by the attacks, documenting the aftermath.

Reporting from Kfour southern town, Al-Manar’s Ali Shbib said the attacks resulted in heavy material damage across multiple streets, with a significant number of homes rendered uninhabitable with damage reported also in the nearby shops.

Talking to our correspondent, the head of the town’s municipal council Khader Saad, said at least 11 housing united were totally destroyed, with 75 being partially damaged.

Al-Manar’s Amin Shoumar reported heavy destruction in the southern town of Qannarit.

“Residents returned to their destroyed homes on Tuesday to inspect the damage, hoping to recover personal belongings,” our correspondent said.

Asked about the number housing units destroyed in Qannarit, the head of the town’s municipal council Zein Khalifeh said nearly 26 housing unites were totally destroyed, while 200 others were partially damaged.

Social Solidarity

Both officials, Saad and Khalife hailed scenes of social solidarity in the two towns.

“Social solidarity in south Lebanon delivers one message to the enemy: We are invincible,” Saad told Al-Manar.

Our correspondents said that residents in the two towns – as well as other towns subjected to the Israeli attacks on Wednesday – opened their homes to those left without shelter.

Local organizations and volunteers coordinated efforts to provide temporary housing, food, and essential supplies, according to our reporters.
