Heavy Israeli Airstrikes Target Southern Lebanese Towns, Widespread Devastation Reported

In a renewed escalation underscoring the Israeli enemy’s repeated violations of the ceasefire agreement, the Israeli warplanes carried out a series of heavy airstrikes targeting residential buildings in the southern Lebanese towns of Qennarit, Jarjouh, and Kfour, according to local reports.

Al-Manar correspondent in Qennarit reported that the strikes caused extensive damage to buildings, vehicles, and local infrastructure. The attacks left streets littered with debris and shattered glass, while several civilians sustained injuries from flying rubble.

After the heavy strikes on the aforementioned towns, the Israeli occupation army issued threats to target houses in the towns of Al-Kharayeb and Ansar in southern Lebanon.

Urges Immediate Presence to Protect Civilians

Kfour Mayor Mr. Saad, speaking to Al-Manar, addressed the Lebanese state and army, highlighting the vulnerability of civilians during the attacks. He stated that residents are often forced to flee their homes in their nightclothes due to the absence of a visible state or military presence.

Mr. Saad emphasized that Israeli strikes continue while the state remains absent on the ground and called for the deployment of the Lebanese army as announced, urging it to fulfill its duty in protecting citizens who trust and rely on it.

The mayor also appealed directly to the Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and the Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, urging restraint in statements that could inflame tensions and highlighting the sacrifices made by the people of southern Lebanon in defending the country.

Aftermath of the Strikes

The town of Qennarit bore the brunt of the airstrikes. Al-Manar correspondent Amin Shoumer confirmed that buildings targeted were not previously identified as at-risk areas.

Journalists covering the scene were stationed several kilometers away from the officially threatened locations, yet the intensity of the bombardment caused injuries, extensive damage to infrastructure, and destruction of vehicles and personal property due to flying debris.

In Jarjouh, a four-story residential building was completely flattened, igniting fires that prompted immediate response from civil defense teams.

More Brutal Attacks

Later on Wednesday, Al-Manar correspondent reported that Israeli warplanes struck residential buildings in the towns of Al-Kharayeb and Ansar in the Sidon district, southern Lebanon.

Earlier Wednesday, Al-Manar reported a drone strike targeted two vehicles in the southern Lebanese areas of Al-Musaileh and  Al-Bazouriyeh early on Wednesday, resulting in the martyrdom of two individuals.

Lebanese Army Statement

The Lebanese Army issued a statement that denounces the Zionist attacks, affirming that they constitute a blatant violation of the ceasefire and the UNSC Resolution 1701.

The statement added that the Zionist attacks hinder the implementation of the Lebanese Army plan and the return of the civilians to their villages.
