Security First: Salam’s Message from Nabatieh

Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam arrived this morning at the Government Serail in Nabatieh, launching a visit to the city with a clear message: security and safety are the foundation for the return of residents and the reconstruction of the area.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by the Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Brigadier General Ahmed Al-Hajjar, and was received by the Minister of Labor, Mohammad Haidar, and the Minister of Finance, Yassine Jaber.

The accompanying delegation included the President of the Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR), Engineer Mohammad Ali Qabbani; the Head of the Council of the South, Hashem Haidar; the Director General of the Internal Security Forces (ISF), Major General Raed Abdullah; the Director General of General Security, Major General Hassan Shuqair; the Deputy Director General of State Security, Brigadier General Murshid Al-Hajj Suleiman; the Director General of Civil Defense, Brigadier General Imad Khuraish; and the Director of the Central Operations Room at the Prime Minister’s Office, Zahi Shaheen.

Salam emphasized that security and safety are fundamental to the residents’ return to their areas, highlighting the crucial role played by security agencies in supporting the reconstruction phase and bolstering stability.

During his visit to the Government Serail in Nabatieh, Salam stated that he chose to begin his visit at the Internal Security Forces center in recognition of the efforts exerted by security forces. He noted that he had observed debris removal and road rehabilitation work along the way, and thanked the Council for Development and Reconstruction and the relevant authorities for their efforts.

“No matter how much effort is put into the reconstruction process, people will not return nor feel safe without your presence here and the role you play,” Salam said.

The Prime Minister affirmed that the state stands with the security forces and appreciates their efforts, urging them to maintain their presence alongside and among the citizens. Such a presence, he noted, “gives people a sense of security and safety, and is the foundation for their return.”

Salam extended his greetings to the Director General of the Internal Security Forces, Major General Raed Abdullah, and to all security personnel, commending the efforts they are exerting during this period.

The visit program includes a tour of several institutions and facilities in the city of Nabatieh, beginning with a visit to the Nabatieh Gendarmerie Company in Kfarjouz. This will be followed by a meeting at the Nabatieh Municipality, featuring an address by Prime Minister Salam to the residents of the city and the South.

Prime Minister Salam will also visit the site of the new Civil Defense headquarters to lay the cornerstone. He will then inspect the General Security center in Nabatieh following the completion of its renovation, and proceed to the State Security headquarters and the Government Serail after the completion of restoration and refurbishment works.

The program also includes a tour of the Nabatieh market, with the visit concluding with a meeting at the home of the Imam of Nabatieh.
