The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy said on Sunday that it has seized a second underwater remotely operated vehicle (UROV) belonging to the US military in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to a statement issued by the IRGC Navy, its forces carried out a coordinated and complex operation, using intelligence superiority and electronic warfare capabilities, to trap an advanced US military UROV that was operating in the Strait of Hormuz for espionage purposes.
The statement identified the seized underwater vehicle as a ‘Remus 600’, describing it as one of the advanced and intelligent underwater systems.
The IRGC Navy said the vehicle has been captured as spoils and is now in the possession of its specialists, who are working to recover its information.
The IRGC Navy stressed that the Strait of Hormuz “is blocked” and said it is continuously and decisively confronting dangerous activities and the passage of vessels through unauthorized routes in the strategic waterway.
The development came after the IRGC Navy announced on September 8 the interception and capture of another advanced US unmanned underwater vehicle near the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz.
The earlier captured vehicle was identified as a Dive-LD, an autonomous unmanned underwater vehicle developed by US defense technology company Anduril Industries and first delivered to the US Navy’s Unmanned Undersea Vehicle Group 1 in 2025. The approximately 5.8-meter-long vehicle is designed for missions including intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, seabed mapping, infrastructure inspection and mine-countermeasure operations.
