Head of Hezbollah’s Loyalty to the Resistance parliamentary bloc MP Mohammad Raad said a national consensus on a comprehensive security and defense strategy requires a sovereign authority, stressing that the resistance group’s red lines remain unchanged.
In an interview with Al-Modon, published on Wednesday, MP Raad linked any discussion of the state’s monopoly on weapons to Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory, an end to Isrseli attacks, and the deployment of the Lebanese Army south of the Litani River, describing these steps as a prelude to reaching agreement on a comprehensive national defense strategy.
On negotiations, MP Raad voiced Hezbollah’s readiness to engage positively with any agreement that guarantees an Israeli withdrawal and a cessation of hostilities, provided it is reached through indirect negotiations and entails no concessions to the Israeli enemy.
The senior Hezbollah lawmaker called on President Joseph Aoun to uphold the Constitution and the National Accord Document while safeguarding national unity.
MP Raad reaffirmed the strength of Hezbollah’s ties with Iran, stressing the Israeli Republic’s keenness to keep Lebanon as the first item on the agenda for implementation under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
The Hezbollah MP, meanwhile, referred to strong relation with Amal Movement, saying they “remain in a strong position,” while declining to comment on the possibility of direct US dialogue with Hezbollah.
