Lebanese MP Ihab Hamadeh criticized what he described as divisions present during the government accountability session, stating that the Israeli occupation and the daily living concerns of citizens were notably absent.
Hamadeh spoke about approximately 4,000 Lebanese families who were forcibly displaced from Syria, leaving behind their orchards, land, and property. He announced the submission of a documented and illustrated file regarding the conditions of these families to the Prime Minister and the head of the joint committee with Syria.
On the educational front, Hamadeh accused the Israeli occupation of systematically destroying educational institutions, stating that targeting schools constitutes war crimes under international law and norms. He called for the immediate release of funds allocated for school renovations.
He also called for removing the full-time tenure file at the Lebanese University from “the alleyways of sectarianism and clientelism,” criticizing what he considered the forfeiture of Lebanese citizens’ rights to monitor, document, and submit complaints regarding violations.
