    Lebanese Army Dismisses Israeli Disinformation Campaigns, Vows to Uphold Missions

      The Lebanese Army on Wednesday has dismissed as fabricated reports circulated by hostile Israeli media outlets about it the Lebanese military positions and missions in southern Lebanon, stressing that such disinformation campaigns will not undermine the military institution’s cohesion or deter it from carrying out its duties.

      In a statement, the Lebanese Army Command said its personnel remain committed to its directives and the missions entrusted to them, acting “out of a deep sense of national responsibility” to defend Lebanon’s sovereignty, security and stability “free from any other considerations.”

      The Lebanese Army Command also stressed that the army continues to enjoy the confidence of “brotherly and friendly nations,” which recognize the Lebanese military institution’s vital role, particularly amid the exceptional circumstances and challenges facing Lebanon.

      Addressing the timing of the reports, the Army Command said their dissemination at “such a critical and sensitive juncture” exposes a dangerous attempt to target the army and its leadership, sow doubt within the institution and undermine trust between the military and the Lebanese people.

      The Lebanese Army stressed that the campaign would not affect its ability to fulfill its duties.

      “These disinformation campaigns, regardless of their source, will not affect the cohesion of the military institution or its ability to carry out its duties, nor will they deter it from continuing its mission to preserve Lebanon’s security and stability,” the statement said.

      The Army Command called on all sides to “bear their national responsibilities,” refrain from being swayed by rumors or contributing to their dissemination, and rely on the military’s official sources for information concerning the army and its leadership.
