The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy announced that a super tanker caught fire and came to a complete stop after striking two sea mines while attempting to pass through an unauthorized route south of the Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement on Monday morning, the IRGC said that the incident occurred several hours ago, warning that vessels violating the security regulations established for navigation through the Strait of Hormuz would face the same fate.
“Several hours ago, a violating super tanker that intended to pass through the illegal route south of the Strait of Hormuz caught fire in massive blazes after striking two sea mines and came to a complete stop.”
“The IRGC Navy once again warns that the fate of vessels that violate the security regulations of the Strait of Hormuz will be no different,” it added.
“Compliance with the regulations issued by the IRGC Navy for passage and navigation is mandatory. Shipping companies should not fall for the provocations of the child-killing US military and should not needlessly expose their vessels’ property and crew members’ lives to destruction,” the statement warned.
