The Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, issued a forceful message on Sunday declaring that the “criminal rulers” of the United States and the Zionist regime are adversaries not merely of Iran, but of the entire global Muslim community.
Marking the occasion of Unity Week, the Supreme Leader called on Islamic nations particularly those in West Asia and the Persian Gulf to clearly identify their true enemy, recognize its machinations, and mount a unified resistance.
“The remedy for the problems of the Muslim Ummah lies in unity of purpose, friendship, and cooperation in the pursuit of goodness and righteousness,” Ayatollah Khamenei stated. “The criminal rulers of the United States and the illegitimate Zionist regime are sworn enemies of this unity and friendship.”
In remarks that carried both theological weight and geopolitical significance, the Leader emphasized that the hostility from Washington and Tel Aviv extends far beyond the Islamic Republic’s borders. “They are not merely enemies of the Islamic Republic, the Iranian nation, and the great front of Islamic resistance; they are hostile to the entire Muslim Ummah, including the nations of West Asia and North Africa.”
A Warning to Regional Rulers
In a pointed aside, Ayatollah Khamenei cautioned that even rulers of Muslim-majority countries who consider themselves allies of Western powers are not immune from this hostility. He drew attention to what he described as public disrespect and offensive language used by arrogant world powers toward some leaders of Islamic states—a pattern, he suggested, that should serve as a wake-up call.
Iran as a Model of Unity
The Leader pointed to Iran itself as a successful example of Muslim unity in the face of external conspiracies, noting that despite sustained enemy efforts, the Iranian people have largely preserved their national cohesion. However, he warned that adversaries remain perpetually vigilant for opportunities to undermine this “great blessing.”
“What gives them hope is the highlighting of differences,” Ayatollah Khamenei observed. “Although ideological and religious differences constitute an important part of what the enemies of Islam seek to exploit, and they place great reliance on using them, they will not stop there.”
A Broader Strategy of Fragmentation
The Supreme Leader painted a grim picture of an elaborate, multi-pronged strategy aimed at fracturing the Muslim world along every conceivable fault line racial, cultural, social, economic, political, and geographical.
“They seek to turn all kinds of differences into pretexts for creating division among Muslim peoples in Iran and in every other Islamic country,” he warned. “So that they can sit back and watch the Muslim Ummah become fragmented, and its strength gradually depleted, and then, at an opportune moment, impose their domination over them.”
The message comes amid heightened regional tensions and ongoing diplomatic realignments in West Asia, as several Gulf states continue to normalize relations with Israel while Iran’s nuclear program remains a point of contention with Western powers.
Unity Week, which marks the birth anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad, is traditionally a period when Iran’s leadership emphasizes Islamic solidarity across sectarian divides.
