Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has described the Minab school massacre as an eternal wound on Iran, urging people and contemporary art enthusiasts to visit an exhibition featuring paintings inspired by the incident.
In an Instagram post on Saturday night, Araghchi said he had visited the exhibition the previous day, describing it as a place where art weeps and makes others weep.
He said the paintings convey the suffering and innocence of the children of Minab, with colors speaking in place of words and canvases expressing what cannot be put into language.
“Behind these colors and images stands the bitter memory of a crime committed by enemies of Iran against innocent children of this land,” Araghchi said, stressing that the tragedy would neither disappear with time nor be erased from the memory of the grieving nation.
The foreign minister said artists had appropriately used their work to preserve the memory of the victims and ensure that their suffering would not be forgotten.
The Shajareh Tayyabeh primary school was targeted in a missile attack on February 28, the first day of the second US-Israeli war of aggression on Iran in a year. Nearly 170 people, including students, teachers and parents were killed in the attack.
Foreign Minister Araghchi invited Iranians and those interested in contemporary Iranian art to visit the exhibition.
