Pakistan reported “significant progress” following high-level talks in Tehran aimed at de-escalating the US-Iran war and restoring the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir held talks Monday with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and other senior political and security officials.
“Our discussion focused on the Iran-US conflict, tensions in the Middle East, and the way forward, as well as the steps needed by both sides for the restoration of the Islamabad MoU,” Naqvi said on X.
“Significant progress was made, and the meeting concluded on a highly positive note,” he added.

According to Pakistan’s military, the talks addressed concrete measures to prevent further military escalation, accelerate an end to the conflict and facilitate the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Tehran also praised Islamabad’s “constructive role and sincere efforts” to promote dialogue and de-escalation.
Pezeshkian: US Bullying Complicates Crisis
In his meeting with Pakistan’s Munir, Pezeshkian, called on Washington to change its approach toward Tehran and honor its legal commitments under the Islamabad MoU, warning that reliance on “bullying and intimidation” would only complicate its implementation.
The Iranian president expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s mediation efforts and said continued political will and cooperation could help achieve the memorandum’s objectives.

Pezeshkian also stressed Iran’s resilience in the face of pressure, attributing it to national unity, and called for greater cooperation among Muslim and neighboring countries in political, economic and security affairs.
“Unity and cohesion among Muslim countries constitute the most important deterrent against plots by the Israeli regime and the enemies of Islam,” he said. “If this convergence is achieved, the enemies will not be able to advance their sinister objectives.”
